Embark on an Enlightening Expedition with Novoto: The "Philippines Pioneers" Journey

Day 1 - Arrive in Manila:

Welcome to the vibrant capital of the Philippines. Settle in your accommodation before your “Meet Your Crew Session”, when you will meet your expedition team. Enjoy a lip-smacking welcome dinner, setting the tone for the journey ahead. Later on, head for your night walk of Manila and then Poblacion for your “Crew Bonding Night Out”. and exploration. Manila is known for its rich history, vibrant nightlife, and diverse culinary scene, offering a unique blend of Filipino culture and Western influences.

Day 2 - Manila :

Embark on a full-day tour of Manila, soaking in its rich culture and history. The capital of the archipelago since the colonial period. Visit the old, the new and the real Manila. In the evening, you will board an overnight bus to Banaue, heart of the Cordillera Mountains.

Day 3 - Banaue:

Arrive in Banaue and trek to a village through the lush and iconic paddy fields. You will pass by multiple villages, giving you deep insight into the country’s life. On arrival at the village, you’ll meet a weaving community and have an interactive session followed by an authentic lunch. Immerse yourself in their traditions and lifestyle, delving into a case study on community tourism that offers insights into regenerative travel practices. The Banaue rice terraces are a UNESCO World Heritage Site, showcasing the ingenuity and resilience of the indigenous Ifugao people.

Day 4 - Sagada:

Travel from Banaue to Sagada with a stopover in Bantoc. Explore the wonders of Bantoc and discover the hidden gems that make this place special. Bantoc is celebrated for its breathtaking scenery and traditional Filipino architecture, providing a glimpse into the rural life of the country. On arrival at Sagada, prepare for an exciting cultural evening with the headhunter community topped with a power-packed tribal dance and scrumptious dinner. 

Day 5 - Baguio:

Embark on a morning tour of Sagada, marveling at the hanging coffins that are steeped in local history. Journey onwards to Baguio. On arrival, head for a night walk, experiencing the city’s charm under the evening sky. Get ready for an enriching day of exploration. Baguio, known as the “Summer Capital of the Philippines,” is famous for its cool climate, lush forests, and bustling markets.

Day 6 - Real:

Transition from Baguio to Real, where you’ll spend the night. Take in the beauty of Real and unwind after days of adventure, preparing for the next leg of your expedition. Real is a coastal town in Quezon Province,  which is remembered for its pristine beaches and scenic landscapes.

Day 7-10 - Jomalig Island:

Today onwards to Jomalig Island, where you’ll spend the next four days. Novoto, in collaboration with local stakeholders and the Tourism Board, has developed community tourism development projects based on regenerative travel. You’ll actively contribute to areas such as empowering women and youth, entrepreneurship, job creation, conserving nature, improving healthcare, and advancing education, all aimed at creating lasting societal impact. Simultaneously, you’ll participate in professional development activities such as team building, leadership workshops, communication skills enhancement, critical thinking exercises, and project management training. This immersive experience is crafted to impart valuable skills while fostering positive change through regenerative tourism—an approach that benefits both participants and the local community. Additionally, you’ll experience authentic cultural immersion by staying with host families on Jomalig Island, fostering meaningful connections and deepening understanding.

Day 11 - Puerto Princesa:

Bid farewell to Jomalig Island as you transfer to Puerto Princesa. Welcome to Palawan, voted as one of the most scenic islands in the world. Relax by the beach, unwinding after days of project assignments. Enjoy moments of serenity by the sea. Puerto Princesa is the capital city of Palawan Province, known for its stunning natural landscape and unique culture.

Day 12 - Puerto Princesa:

Today, head for an underground river tour in Puerto Princesa, declared as one of the 7 natural wonders of the world, that await beneath the surface. Explore this unique ecosystem and marvel at its beauty. The Puerto Princesa Subterranean River National Park is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, featuring an 8.2 km underground river that winds through a spectacular cave system.

Day 13 - El Nido:

The journey from Puerto Princesa to El Nido, head towards the Yamang Bukid Farm which is Puerto Princesa’s first agritourism hotspot and then visit the busyadores community also known as the nest gathers of Palawan to learn their techniques and unique skills. This will be followed interactive session on community-owned businesses. Immerse yourself in local life and culture, gaining insights into the livelihoods of those who call this region home. El Nido is a coastal town on Palawan Island, famous for its pristine beaches, limestone cliffs, and abundant marine life.

Day 14 - El Nido:

Today, head on an island-hopping adventure in El Nido, where you’ll explore its pristine beaches and crystal-clear waters. Begin your journey by visiting the enchanting lagoons of El Nido, marvelling at their turquoise blue waters and limestone cliffs. Dive into the beauty of Bacuit Bay, home to the Big Lagoon and Seven Commandos Beach, where you can relax in the shallow waters or swim out to explore the vibrant marine life just beneath the surface. Enjoy your lunch onboard. Conclude your expedition with a farewell beach dinner and End With A Bang Night Out

Day 15 - Exit El Nido:

Your tour concludes in El Nido, leaving you with lasting memories of an expedition filled with adventure, cultural immersion, and camaraderie with your crew. Reflect on your experiences as you bid farewell to this enchanting destination.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Is this expedition for me?

This expedition is strictly meant for university students who want to travel during their term break. To join the tour, you need to be matriculated as a student at a university.

2. Are flights included in my trip?

International flights booked for arrival/ departure have not been included in our travel fee. It must be purchased separately. However, in case of any inquiries, you can contact us. Your arrival airport is Manila Ninoy Aquino International Airport the tour ends at El Nido you can book your flight back to Manila and then fly back to your country from there. 

3. What should I do about my visa?

You will be required to obtain either the Philippines E-Visa (you can check your eligibility here – https://www.visa.gov.ph/) either online or on arrival.

4. Who will be in my expedition team?

You will be traveling with fellow university students from various universities from different countries.

5. What is the weather like in the Philippines in June?

June beckons adventurers to the Philippines, boasting ideal weather conditions for exploration. Within our selected destinations, anticipate average temperatures ranging from 25°C and 32°C.

6. How do I contact my family in case of an emergency during the expedition?

No need to worry! We will have our on-ground team for your assistance.

7. Can I join a trip late, or extend my stay?

As much as we would LOVE you to join us, it will be difficult for us to accommodate you in an already on-going trip. Good news? You are more than welcome to extend your stay, but the expenses for the same have to be taken by you.

8. Does Novoto provide me travel insurance?

Unfortunately, no. We leave that to your discretion to book travel insurance of your choice.
