Which is the Most Beautiful Country in South Asia?

Many aspects come together to make a country beautiful. Of course, it’s stunning scenery and incredible vistas. But it’s also in the history and culture, the people and their hospitality. All things considered, South Asia is a region rich in beautiful countries.

Naturally, ranking countries by any concept of beauty is entirely subjective. Just like us, every person will have their own opinions and ideas, all of which are equally valid.

Best of all, there’s plenty of time for this list to become even longer in the future!

In this blog, we just want to highlight a handful of countries that have touched us with their beauty during our experience providing group travel in South Asia.

Sri Lanka: A Small Tropical Paradise Bursting with Beauty

Sri Lanka may look on the small side when compared to its larger neighbours, but don’t be fooled into thinking there’s any less to see and do here. This incredible country is absolutely packed with beautiful views and seemingly endless activities.

What more would you expect from the Pearl of the Indian Ocean?

In fact, Sri Lanka has such a diverse range of landscapes that there truly is something for everyone here.

It’s impossible for us to encapsulate in a few words what Sri Lanka has in store for visitors, but some of the highlights include:

Unawatuna – A town in south Sri Lanka known for coral reef, stunning beaches, leaning palm trees, sea turtles, nearby jungle, and the Japanese Peace Pagoda.

Wilpattu National Park – Sri Lanka’s oldest and largest national park is home to many species, including leopards, elephants, sloth bears, and crocodiles.

Sigiriya – Also known as Lion Rock, this ancient rock fortress, complete with ancient ruins, rises majestically above jungle hills, gardens, ponds, and frescoes.

Kandy to Ella Train – From thick, lush green tea fields to misty mountains, this train ride is considered one of the most beautiful in the world, let alone Sri Lanka.

Wildlife sanctuaries, pristine beaches, exceptional surfing, world-famous cuisine: the list of reasons to visit Sri Lanka goes on and on.

As specialists in regenerative travel, Novoto provides unforgettable tours in Sri Lanka that showcase all the beauty this country has to offer.

Nepal: Hospitality, Hiking, History, and So Much More

Where Sri Lanka stuns with luscious tropical landscapes, Nepal owes much of its beauty to the Himalayan Mountain range. In short, these mountains sweep right through the country creating breathtaking views and a natural playground for hikers and mountain climbers.

That’s not to say that Nepal lacks greenery in its scenery. Chitwan National Park is an incredible place to take in Nepal’s wide-ranging flora and fauna. The park is packed with wildlife. Just a handful of the animals you can find here include Bengal tigers, leopards, sloth bears, and rhinos.

Even Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu, is a cultural, historical, and architectural wonder in its own right. The city has more than seven World Heritage Sites!

But among Nepal’s seemingly endless treasures, it’s the incredible hiking and mountaineering opportunities that draw most visitors here. That’s hardly surprising considering ten of the world’s 14 highest mountains lie within this small country!

With some paths only accessible by foot, the views on display are beyond spectacular. The size, scale, and beauty of it all can genuinely alter your outlook on life.

When you throw in the kindness and hospitality of the Nepalese people, their diverse cultures, and the country’s fascinating history, booking tours in Nepal is a decision you will never regret.

India: A Country of Endless Diversity, Beauty, and Wonder

How do you sum up the beauty of a country as large and diverse as India? Any sweeping statement that tries to do this incredible country justice will always fall short. The only way to experience the beauty of India is to explore it in person.

At Novoto, we know India inside out. We have poured this knowledge into crafting tours of India that last between 15 and 30 days. This is the minimal amount of time needed to see and experience as much of the real India as possible in a single visit.

Of equal importance, it’s enough time to give back to the communities your journey passes through too.

Any worthwhile adventure in India combines the most popular attractions with locations off the beaten track, such as:

  • The majestic Taj Mahal
  • Mumbai’s Manhattan
  • The golden beaches of Marari
  • The incredible ancient village of Hampi
  • Idyllic beach living in Goa
  • France’s legacy in Pondicherry

Add in lessons on how to make Indian cuisine, volunteering at animal shelters, staying in family-run homestays, and all manner of other community-focused activities, and you’ll start to get a feel for the beauty at the heart of India.
