Overview

Hampi, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site and  described as a “highly evolved multi-religious and multi-ethnic society”, is an ancient city of ruins situated in the south India state of Karnataka . A unique landscape with a lot of historical relevance, it ranked #2 on Lonely Planet’s ‘Must Visit Destinations’ of 2019. However, lack of long term grass roots level policies has prevented Hampi from reaching its true tourism potential. Moreover, human development indices there, such as healthcare, education, employment and equal opportunities do not meet optimal standards.

Our project, Rebuild Hampi: Rural Development Based on Sustainable Tourism, is a multiple stakeholder approach involving local players. In addition to addressing various quality of life parameters, our mission is to put Hampi on everyone’s bucket list, and create a sustainable tourism industry, on which the local community can thrive. And you can be the change makers to help us achieve that!

Therefore, we invite each and every individual, who wants to create a social impact, to join us. Have the adventure of your life as you take part in Rebuild Hampi.
Change begins with an adventure.

What to Expect from Education Volunteer Programs in Hampi, India

The saying goes, “learning never stops” — and at Novoto, we definitely agree. The world of education is constantly evolving, helping us all adapt our ways of thinking and allowing us to embrace new concepts.

As part of our education volunteer programs in Hampi, you will be responsible for designing a knowledge-based model of education in government schools. Here, children learn, grow, and participate in extracurricular activities.

What’s more, you can also extend community outreach programs into society, creating a better sense of awareness among the people living here.

And the role doesn’t end there! Working closely with local teachers, you will equip them with the necessary tools to improve their teaching skills. In turn, this further contributes to the overall development of the children.

Besides teaching, your Hampi volunteer trip gives you a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of, and learn about, this beautiful community.

Much like all our volunteering opportunities in India, you will stay with a welcoming host family and learn about the everyday culture in a way tourists can’t. And on weekends, you can feed your wanderlust by exploring stunning nearby destinations.

Teaching a fellow human being is, without a doubt, one of the most important and influential jobs anyone can do. For this reason, we value previous experience in education highly.

However, if you have a genuine passion and the will to make a lasting difference, we’re happy to talk about our travel volunteering opportunities in Hampi with you. Simply book a call with us at a time that suits you.

Sustainable Development- The Continuity

The city has a rich legacy. The style of art and architecture is very distinctive, giving rise to an authentic personality of the city. Through our initiatives, we would like to maintain the same.

Equip, not cater- Skills that last

Through this medium, we can make the local artisans independent in terms of thriving in their profession. By grooming them with various design techniques, you can add a new meaning to life for them.

Women’s empowerment- Urgent need

Just like any creative outlet, design and art does not differentiate between genders. It therefore, can act as a great leveller between the two. Let’s utilize this skill to empower the women of Hampi.

Education- Foundation

Education is a powerful tool that we use to change people for the better. But it’s potency can be increased through the application of design and art. Teaching the students about the same, and helping them to hone their skills can transform lives.

New Business- Innovate

Be it converting a traditional house into a homestay, or appealing to the buyers in a market; design and art can play a huge role in facilitation. Apply your proficiency in the local businesses, and improve their current results.

Job Creation- Spillover

The creation of new businesses leads to the creation of new jobs, which provides employment opportunities to the locals. You will be directly facilitating the development of a well oiled local economy.

Improve Sanitation- Quality of Life

Creating and designing works of art, that propagates the importance of proper hygiene and health standards in the society would be very helpful. More and more people will be get attached with the same through this method.

Collaborate with fellow artists and designers into creating something unique. Help in organising an eye-catching market, improve the looks of traditional vehicles, or put a smile in the faces of the local women as you design their dream homestays.

At noon, we make a stop for lunch and refreshments. After lunch, we continue with project-specific work. Enjoy your day.

After 5 PM, the evening is kept free for a range of independent activities with fellow voluntourists. Occasionally, there shall be organised social events in the evening.

Finally, dinner is provided by the homestay. Rest and think about the fond memories created.

At Novoto, we aim to transform the perspective of voluntourism from one of humanitarian relief to one of cultural exchange. We believe that the impact of cultural exchange is more powerful than simple humanitarian relief.
